There are no FAA license requirements to fly an Ultralight Trike. We provide training in a light twin to solo to ensure that you are safe to pilot a single seat Trike.
The FAA requires that you complete 15 hours of dual instruction and 5 hours of solo flying to be eligible to test for the Sport Pilot License. In addition, you must pass an FAA written exam, Complete a 50 mile solo cross country flight, and pass a Sport Pilot Practical exam that consists of an oral and a flight test. 40 hours of flight time that includes at least 20 hours of flight training with an authorized instructor and 10 hours of solo flight training. In addition you must complete three hours of cross-country flight training in a weight-shift-control aircraft; five hours of solo cross-country time; and one solo cross-country flight over 100 nautical miles total distance, with landings at a minimum of three points. Finally you must have three takeoffs and landings (with each landing involving a flight in the traffic pattern) in an aircraft at an airport with an operating control tower.
